ZA's Post-disaster Masterplan for Fushë-Krujë Albania Breaks Ground

Construction has begun on ZA's masterplan for the earthquake-afflicted Albanian city Fushë-Krujë. Critical support infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, water mains, high-voltage duct banks, telecommunication lines, and sewers are currently in progress; foundations for the 128 single-family homes will soon follow.
Once complete, the project will provided facilities for housing, education, healthcare, and recreation to 1,100 residents. The masterplan, designed by ZA in collaboration Tirana-based firm Varka and local Albanian engineers, was commissioned by the National Territorial Planning Agency of Albania (AKPT) in cooperation with the Albanian Ministry of Culture and the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The project is being implemented the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) with financial support coming an international community of post-disaster donors led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
