A State Garden Show is an opportunity for long-term infrastructure investment in underdeveloped urban areas. Intended to boost the economy of a place through real estate development and to increment the open space network, these public projects ground strategies for increased living standards associated with a lifestyle close to nature and cultural practices. Responding to these challenges, the Mound Park project emerges from the annotation of the site through its affordances and potentials in approximating residential areas, creating microclimates and providing vantage points over the agricultural land for passive recreation. In dialogue with the military history of Ingolstadt - one of surveying and defense which has grown concentrically from a medieval wall to 19th Century Ramparts - the project adds another layer of land forming as a landscape technique to accommodate the various programmatic needs. In a post-event scenario, these landforms remain as ruins or as places for the community. They shelter, protect and form distinct points of opening, release and connection. As the forested belt grows and gets thicker over time, the new form of the land with its platforms, pathways, grottoes, and pools will accommodate the expanding residential and working neighborhoods.
