ZA has been commissioned by the Albanian Development Fund to design a pre-school / kindergarten building in the Varosh neighborhood of Krujë Albania. An emphasis is being placed on utilizing pre-fabricated elements to increase design and construction speed, with the target completion date set to September 2020. Access to the site is via a narrow and tightly curved mountain road which significantly impact the size of pre-fab elements which can be shipped to the site, while the site's steep grade presents construction challenges and spectacular views. ZA is currently working with local engineers to devise a modular building system consisting of elements no larger than 4.3 meters. This project marks ZA's third commission with agencies of the Albanian government in 2020.
